Krissy, The Rider:

Krissy first became interested in horseback riding in 2002, and began riding lessons at North Coast Equestrian Park. She began competing in North Coast Equestrian Park shows in late 2002 placing 1st, an incredible four times.

In 2003, Krissy began lessons at Sunland Ranch riding Icelandic horses, as well as taking lessons at LB Hunters (Lynn Bollinger – trainer) later in the year.

On November 4th, 2003, Krissy purchased her first pony, a 9-year-old 14hh black pony named “Bobby Socks!” Sadly, on January 9, 2004, “Bobby Socks” passed away after a ruptured stomach was discovered during the second surgery in three days  to treat colitis at the Helen Woodward Equine Center

A couple months went by and on March 23rd, 2004, Krissy purchased her 2nd pony; a 14.2 hh 81/2 year old grey Welsh Cobb Arabian, named; “Just For Fun!”

In the Spring of 2004, Krissy competed in her first GSDHJA (Greater San Diego Hunter Jumpers Association) show.

In 2005, Krissy continued riding lessons with trainer Lynn Bollinger at LB Hunters,  but didn't participate in any shows. Into 2006, she continued riding lessons with trainer Lynn Bollinger at LB Hunters.

On October 3rd, 2006, Krissy purchased “Promenade,” aka “Hailey,” an 8 year old 16.5 hh Oldenberg Warmblood mare.

Less than two weeks later, on October 14th, 2006 – began competitive riding again with her new horse, Hailey, in the GSDHJA Signature Show series by winning 1st place in Long Stirrup  Undersaddle.  She took home a 2nd and 3rd the following day in Cross Rail Undersaddle and Long Stirrup Equitation.

On October 21st & 22nd, 2006, Krissy competed in the  GSDHJA Championship Show.  Competition was stiff.  Krissy took home the Grand Champion Ribbon in Long Stirrup Undersaddle and the Grand Champion Ribbon in Cross Rail Undersaddle.

Presently, in 2007 – Krissy continues riding up to five times each week training and preparing both herself and Hailey for the upcoming GSDHJA Signature Show Series.  Krissy plans to compete in all GSDHJA Signature Shows in 2007 and in the GSDHJA Championship Show at the end of the year.

Special Thanks to Lynne Bollinger for her patience and care during the countless hours of training both the rider and the horse and for caring for my ponies and horse when I wasn’t there.

Extra Special Thanks to “MeMa” (Grandma – Judy Brann) for the countless hours she’s spent driving me to training classes, standing on the sidelines giving me the encouragement necessary to do well and especially for getting up at daybreak to help me on show weekends.  Oh, and for buying me a horse, for making sure I have everything I need to ride and for making sure my horse is well taken care of.  It wouldn’t happen without her.
